Some shops are two businesses in one URL
A catalog people can buy from, and a quote path for custom work, are different jobs. Larkul needed both.
A millwork shop that sells finished shelves and also quotes cabinets is not a single homepage problem. One path needs a price and a checkout. The other needs wall lengths, photos, and a reason to trust the install. Force both into a generic “what we do” block and neither path works.
Two jobs, one domain
The catalog needs species, dimensions, and a price someone can check out without a phone call. Custom cabinets and hoods need measurements, finishes, Pinterest notes, and photos of the existing kitchen. A single “contact us” button cannot carry both. The photography can be strong and the structure can still be wrong.
Split the paths on purpose
Put real SKUs and species in the shop. Put a form on custom work that asks for the measurements and reference photos a shop actually needs to reply. Let past installs sit where they prove quality so the copy does not have to shout. That is the pattern we used on Larkul, and it is the pattern we will keep using for shops that sell stock and custom.
What the quote form has to ask
If the form is polite and vague, the shop chases missing dimensions for a week. Ask for wall lengths, finishes, and photos up front. The visitor who will not upload a kitchen photo was not ready to buy. The visitor who will is worth the friction.
Care after launch
Finishes change. SKUs rotate. Seasonal copy shows up in week two. Hosting and a care plan stay with the same studio that shipped the build so those updates are not a new project every time a species runs out.
Honesty about the portfolio
That is also why we only publish work you can click. Larkul is live at larkul.com. The next case study will be too. We will not invent a grid of logos to look busier than we are.
If your business has a catalog and a custom path, bring both in your request. We will not flatten them into one “what we do” paragraph.
